Who is behind Belize?

​​

The story of RBS Foods began when Roelof Bernard Steenhuisen was still at school.

Roelof’s journey in the hospitality industry began with a passion for exceptional food and service, ignited during his volunteer work at a local old-age home. Starting as a waiter, he quickly climbed the ranks, becoming General Manager of a 500-seater restaurant by age 22.

 

His career flourished overseas, where he gained invaluable experience in hotels and restaurants across England, Wales, and Ireland.
 

Upon returning to South Africa in 2007, Roelof secured the tender for Pecanwood Golf Course’s restaurant, marking the start of his entrepreneurial success. He founded La Terrazza in 2009, a beloved gathering spot in Broederstroom, and has since opened several acclaimed establishments, including Die Plaas se Gat Restaurant, Terrace at Van Gaalen, and Belize Restaurant at Caribbean Estate.

With a keen eye for opportunity and a talent for creating unforgettable dining experiences, Roelof also consults for fellow restaurateurs, sharing his expertise in design and operations. His ventures continue to combine meticulous attention to detail with a love for local flavors, leaving lasting impressions on every guest.
